The Livret A is regulated by law. Here are the essential rules to know.
Interest is calculated fortnightly: deposits produce interest from the 1st or 16th of the month following the deposit. Withdrawals stop earning interest from the previous 1st or 16th.
The interest accumulated over the year is credited to your Livret A on December 31 of each year. They are added to the capital and themselves produce interest the following year (compound interest).
You cannot deposit more than €22,950 into your Livret A (excluding interest). A person can only hold one Livret A. The ceiling can be reached gradually or in a single payment.
The Livret A rate is set by ministerial decree and revised February 1 and August 1 of each year. It is calculated based on inflation and interbank rates.

Interest is calculated fortnightly: a deposit made before the 15th of the month produces interest from the 16th; after the 15th, from the 1st of the following month. Interest is capitalized and paid into your savings account on December 31 of each year. They are added to your capital and themselves produce interest the following year.
Yes. A minor child can hold a Livret A, opened by their legal representative (parent or guardian). The ceiling is identical (€22,950). A child can therefore have their own Livret A in addition to that of each of their parents, which constitutes an excellent long-term family savings tool.
The first deposit upon opening is a minimum of €10. Thereafter, there is no minimum for deposits or withdrawals. The only constraint: the balance can never be negative and the account must maintain a positive or zero balance after any withdrawal (you cannot withdraw more than your available balance).
Yes. The Livret A rate is regulated and may increase or decrease on February 1 and August 1 of each year according to the ministerial decree.
